Our creative staff, sit with you and explain each step of the way of turning an older object /furniture and tweaking it to give it a new lease on life. This activity allows you to be creative and gives one a sense of accomplishment as you enjoy your new work of art.
What we do for you
The new UPCYCLE RECYCLE group will be open to NDIS participants who will be able to learn the basics of woodworking in a friendly, social environment.
Woodworking is known for its positive effects on mental health and function. This course, which runs on all Wednesdays, is also a great way to meet new people who have similar interests and learn new skills along the way.

Renovating and recycling vintage furniture and pieces with some regularity will help you a lot to bring out your most creative side, to be more imaginative and to implement ideas that are in your head and that you cannot find in stores.
Also, the more pieces you recycle… the more creative you will be! Creativity is not only linked to talent, it is also linked to perseverance, habit and dedication.
Social benefits
ACALS’ Upcycle Recycle program isn’t just about the products and education – Upcycle Recycle participants also get to socialise around the lunch table, communicate and engage while enjoying a hot meal.
Participants enjoying and holding conversations with fellow participants while the staff take a step back is an important function of these mealtimes.
